Looking at the photos. Those trains have to make some noise!

Paid 1/2 million for this tiny little condo and all I got was a lousy $625 HOA and a choo choo train. | | | | anon 9/20/2007 6:47:09 PM | Reply |
Is this building the Grand, or the Grahn-day? | | | | Anonymous 9/20/2007 7:12:35 PM | Reply |
It's the Grande but pronounces grand and not grahn-day. It's guess it's French feminine grande and not masculine grand. They should've called it La Grande.

I looked at renting a unit at The Grande that was right on the train track. It was a great unit but laughable how the train was setup. I could never deal with that. There are some people though that don't seem to mind the noise. | | | | Frenchy 9/20/2007 9:01:46 PM | Reply |
It blows my mind that anyone would pay such obscene prices to live next to a railroad track. | | | | WTF 9/20/2007 9:29:14 PM | Reply |
Somebody made 120K on that in ONE month back in 05. Crazy! | | | | Mr_Brightside 9/20/2007 9:35:43 PM | Reply |
WTF,
That might have been back when the building was completed and the first buyer which actually "bought" a few years before actually closing and then resold into the higher prices at the time.

Those trains ain't nothin' to mess with.
In fact, the day-train is nothing. Nothing at all. Trolley, really. It can be annoying when every road guard goes down to block the intersection with its tiny bells. Angels getting wings.
But come nightfall, you're in for it. The Amtrak pulls out often around 10-11 and blows three blasts at every single intersection. That's C, B, A, Ash, Beech, Date, Elm, etc, etc. And these are loud, in the way that you think of God as big. | | | | CYB 9/20/2007 9:53:19 PM | Reply |
Back to real-estate pertinence.
I've been into several units at La Grande, and they are stunningly similar to rentals at the new "luxury" apartments downtown. Like Allegro Tower, right across the street. Stunningly. Same everything.
Good time to review patrick.net's rent v. buy discussions and calculator. | | | | Anonymous 9/21/2007 8:37:18 AM | Reply |
Good views, but I don't like the building. | | | | Brian 11/15/2007 12:56:43 PM | Reply |
